This course is designed to provide students who have little to no background in Italian with the necessary skills to read and understand the language. Students will develop comprehension of texts from various disciplines including the humanities and the social sciences. The course will present the basic elements of Italian syntax, grammar and vocabulary and will emphasize reading comprehension, translation skills, recognition and collaborative learning. Other readings such as news articles revolving around current events, song lyrics, and other contemporary sources will be added.
