Erika (she/her) is a second year PhD student in the Italian department at Rutgers. Her primary research interests encompass mysticism, witchcraft, the body in literature, and translation. In particular, she seeks to interrogate the literature and scholarship of the mystical body in their intersection with contemporary feminist theory. She holds a BA in English from the University of Sussex and an MPhil in Criticism and Culture from the University of Cambridge. In the course of her BA, she also spent a year at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München studying philology and South Asian literature. She has taught Italian and English in various educational settings and maintains a research and working fluency in French and Spanish. Her critical writings in Italian studies have engaged a wide range of authors including Dante, Angela of Foligno, Carlo Ginzburg, Antonia Pozzi, Gianna Manzini, and Matilde Serao. Also a writer of poetry and prose, and a translator, Erika has published recent and forthcoming pieces in BULL,The Poetry Lighthouse, Flash Frontier, scaffold literary magazine, Eunoia Review, and elsewhere.
