Italian 123 aims to develop oral proficiency, while focusing on Italian culture and civilization, through lively discussion of articles and video clips on Italian news, literature, music and society. The course will include authentic material such as Italian songs, movie segments, and games. Instruction will facilitate oral proficiency, emphasizing meaningful language use for real communicative purposes, and will focus on the development of language through function and context. Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to comprehend and express themselves orally at an intermediate low/mid level as defined by the ACFTL Guidelines and handle successfully a variety of communicative tasks in social situations.
